A single bench of Justice Damber Bahadur Shahi issued the order on October 25 in response to a petition filed by Jainuddin Ansari of KNMC. .
TU had scrapped the affiliation given to KNMC on September 6 after a three-member probe committee formed by the university submitted its report. The probe committee had recommended to the university to cancel affiliation granted to the college after a field inspection. The committee said the hospital did not have necessary infrastructure for running a medial college. .
Earlier, TU had granted affiliation to the medical college to run MBBS programme on July 27 following an order from the SC. The health ministry had ordered closure of the hospital after an eight-member probe committee found the hospital to be running illegally. .
The medical college had applied for approval to run the hospital in 2011, 2015 and 2017 at the Ministry of Health. However, the applications were rejected as the hospital failed to submit necessary documents..
Dr Govinda KC, senior orthopaedic surgeon, who has been protesting against irregularities in the medical sector threatened to launch fresh protests against the SC decision. .
“The decision has violated fundamental rights of the people. If a court starts granting affiliation to medical colleges, there is no use of TU, Institute of Medicine and Nepal Medical Council. Why doesn’t the court start issuing a doctor’s certificate also ?” Dr KC asked..
“We will launch protests against the decision,” he added.
