Civil Engineering Students Society CESS Thapathali Campus, an umbrella organization for the civil engineering students of IOE Thapathali Campus have successfully installed the benchmark stations in Thapathali Campus premises which are now available in the Google Earth. This initiative cum project on making the Benchmark Stations available online undertaken by CESS Thapathali Campus is most probably the first of its kind in Nepal, done by the efforts of the civil engineering students.
Mr. Manish Raj Gouli, President of CESS Thapathali Campus and a student of Civil Engineering stated that this achievement is between a project and an initiative. It is a project in a sense that it will be useful for the campus itself as well as for different mega projects like construction of flyovers, bridges, etc. since the survey must be conducted before the construction. It is an initiative in a sense that the CESS Thapathali Campus hopes such projects will be continued by next committees too.
I suggest all the Civil Engineering Students to come out of their books and experience the real-world engineering approaches along with their study. – Mr. Manish Raj Gouli, President, CESS Thapathali Campus
Mr. Gouli further added that such a task of making the benchmark stations online has not been achieved by other engineering colleges so far to his knowledge. This eventually led to increase the excitement and encouragement to all the volunteers and members of CESS Thapathali Campus members.
Civil Engineering Students of Thapathali Campus make Benchmark Stations Available ONLINE
This project initially required a DGPS instrument which is not easily available in Nepal. The student-managed CESS Thapathali Campus had hired the instrument at NRs Fifteen Thousands per day. IOE Thapathali Campus Chief Er. Ishwor Chandra Baniya, HOD of Civil Engineering Department Er. Shailendra Raj Khanal and other office bearers of Thapathali Campus had supported and encouraged the students in this effort which made this achievement possible.
According to Mr. Manish Raj Gouli, the President, the details and report of this project is available at IOE Thapathali Campus and the interested students can obtain further information from CESS Thapathali Campus Facebook Page. He suggests all the Civil Engineering Students to come out of their books and experience the real-world engineering approaches along with their study, which will prove to be a milestone in their career.
